Andy Bruno is Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Faculty Associate in Environmental Studies at Northern Illinois University. His book, The Nature of Soviet Power: An Arctic Environmental History, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2016.

Earlier in his career he was Postdoctoral Fellow in the History of Science/Environmental History of the North at Florida State University (2011-2013) and a Visiting Scholar in “Threatened Orders” Collaborative Research Center at the University of Tübingen (2013). He received his B.A. in history from Reed College (2003), his M.A. in Russian studies from the European University at Saint Petersburg (2004), and his Ph.D. in history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2011).
